Experimental by Michael Murray - Book

Explore Michael Murray’s experimental mentalism in a 42-page book of ideas from his May 2023 “Experimental” lecture. You’ll find thought-reading routines, audience choices, and material for close-up, stage, and parlor performances.

Inside the book

• New ideas: “Pause for Thought” explores an overlooked use of language, while “On the Edge” and “Trilogy” offer audience-choice and thought-of-word effects. Props for “On the Edge” and “Trilogy” are supplied.
• Memory and prediction: “Perfect Memory” describes gathering information from a borrowed mobile, including for pre-show use.
• Rock, Paper, Scissors: “Rock & Roll” introduces a routine in this theme, and “Child’s Play” is a multilayered routine for close-up or stage.
• Video explanations: The book provides access to the full performance and explanation videos for “Fragment,” Michael’s ACAAN effect, and “Show Reel.” One gimmicked page for “Show Reel” is supplied.
• More performance material: “Directional Intuition” is a propless Q&A effect; “The Collective Conscious” is a stage or parlor closer; and “Selling the Reaction” offers an approach to building a participant’s reaction. “Closing Words” ends the notes with a quote about mentalism as an art form.

Some material appeared previously in Michael’s booklets, and “Fragment” was sold separately. The ideas are experimental; some were presented for the first time at the lecture, and some remain in development. This is not a strict limited edition, though production will remain modest.
